At the dawn of civilization, one woman had a bright idea!
We are thrilled to present Firebringer, brought to life on the glorious Magnolia Theatre stage inside The Lincoln Center in Fort Collins.
The Story:
Firebringer is a stone-age musical about a tribe of early humans, led by Jemilla, the Peacemaker. Jemilla stands for modern values, like working hard and trying to understand the world. Then there’s Zazzalil. She’s not lazy — she’s efficient. Gathering nuts and berries day after day after day isn’t a life, it’s a sentence. She does what any restless genius would do: she starts experimenting. In doing so, she stumbles onto the single most important discovery in all of human history.
What follows is a whirlwind comedic adventure that pits the tribe against a duck, a mammoth, and the most terrifying predator to ever walk the earth — a beast known only as Snarl. Featuring the song “We Got Work to Do” — the viral anthem that united the entire internet in one deeply relatable sentiment:
“I don’t really want to do the work today.”

Join us for the first ever staged reading of Mothman: A Ludicrous Love Story by Sarah Paul. What does "staged reading" mean? This will be a rehearsed presentation of the play where our actors read aloud with scripts in hand, without a set or props. This allows the writing and the story to be center stage. Following the reading, we will raffle off door prizes!
Each show ticket includes one raffle ticket, but more may be purchased at the door OR as an add-on with your ticket purchase.
About the Show
Freshly divorced and out of a job, June has hit rock bottom in her tiny home town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. One night, after drinking herself into a stupor, June stumbles upon the nicest man she’s ever met. He just happens to be the not-so-mythical "cryptid" Mothman. What follows is a whirlwind romance between a woman and a legend, and the only thing that stands between them is a tourism-driven mayor and the entire force of an unknown military agency.
